About this event
The local Deaf community is holding a series of heritage events to begin formally documenting and preserving its history, in association with Northamptonshire Archives.
These sessions provide an opportunity to share memories, explore historical records and capture the stories and experiences of the Deaf community, ensuring that this important part of our local heritage is preserved for future generations.
Freemasons and their partners across the Province are warmly invited to participate, with opportunities to assist with historical research, archiving, preservation and recording personal accounts through interviews. There will also be opportunities to learn practical British Sign Language (BSL) signs and everyday phrases, helping to build confidence communicating with Deaf people.
No previous knowledge of BSL or archival experience is required ā just a willingness to learn, contribute and help preserve our shared history.
The heritage session takes place before the Deaf Awareness Session and the Deaf Social Club.
